Before my husband surprised me with a Pygora goat I thought "I'll never have a goat". My reasoning was that I had been around them at a boarding facility and saw how destructive they could be. My brother also had goats and all the problems he had keeping them fenced, and trying to keep them from eating every tree on his place had me conviced that goats were just too much trouble.
Then came Pablo, a very friendly, often mischevious, tortilla eating, gate opening, wavy haired goat. He charmed his way into our lives and since goats don't like being alone we added some very cute kids to the flock to keep him company. Now I can't imagine not having goats around. Yes, they can be a pain to keep inside fencing, and when they do get out they will quickly eat anything you consider a prized plant. But having a flock of goats following you everywhere, like the pied piper, is just so much fun.
